The Venture Raptivist
With over a decade of success in the music industry, I developed the entrepreneurial skills and business acumen that paved the way for my transition into the tech and investing sectors.
Previously, I was an Entrepreneur in Residence at Upfront Ventures, one of the largest early stage investment firms in Southern California, where I gained deeper insights, strategies, and an enhanced understanding of the world of investing. Since then I have invested in more than 60 tech companies including Maker Studios, Cruise, Lyft, and I advise a number of high profile entertainers and athletes on their investments.
To succeed as a rapper or an investor, you must excel at anticipating trends and staying on top of what's next. Living the life of an entrepreneur or activist provides a broader perspective about what drives meaningful improvement in people's lives.
I'm not a venture capitalist, I'm a chameleon.

Lumi’s mission is to democratize storytelling by providing tools for creators to turn their ideas into finished products, as well as distributing and merchandising those stories – transforming any creator into Disney. By leveraging advanced AI tools, Lumi enhances the creative process, allowing creators to focus on bringing their stories to life, while the platform handles all of the logistics. Creators have had a significant impact on AI, and they should be a primary beneficiary of its use.

I don't invest by myself anymore because I believe we should always be working to bring others into promising opportunities. I have a quality network of celebrities and people of influence who invest alongside me, so I syndicate deals when it makes sense.
We generally invest in early stage Seed and Series A startups. Pre-seed companies are typically earlier than the stage where we prefer to invest, and later stage companies need to be under a $50M valuation.
We aren't limited to a specific sector but we usually prefer companies that have some element of tech involved.
We don't invest in cannabis or crypto companies.
We don't invest in ideas so if you just have concepts of a plan you aren't right for us.
We prefer to not be your first check because showing you can close other investors before you come to us is a sign of healthy traction.
Also, we don't sign NDAs so if you are the type of founder who believes you need one before speaking to an investor then we aren't a good fit for you.
I believe most investors don't really do anything to help a startup, so I pride myself on trying to be one of the most helpful people on a founder's cap table. I come into deals with a group of Avengers from different industries so that allows us to knock down barriers when we have to. Influence doesn't have much value when you don't use it.
I can appreciate it when a company or founder is referred to me by someone I know, but I try to keep my eyes open for opportunities that come from outside of my insulated bubble.
There are a number of 3rd party websites claiming to give founders access to pitch me but they are all being dishonest. Please don't use them and definitely don't pay.
To make things easier there is a form included below. I get a lot of pitches so don't be discouraged by a lack of response. If at first you don't succeed, get some more traction and try again.
